The Faculty of Science at Mahasarakham University (SCiMSU) recently concluded its highly successful “SCiMSU Global Citizenship Camp 2026.” Held from May 12–13 at the Wishing Tree Khon Kaen Resort, the event was a vibrant gathering of science students from six partner universities, all united by a shared vision for a sustainable future.
Under the theme “Science for Sustainability: Speaking for a Better World,” the camp focused on equipping students with essential 21st-century competencies. The program uniquely integrated English communication and public speaking with cutting-edge Generative AI technology, all framed within the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program welcomed enthusiastic participants from Years 1 to 3, representing a strong network: Mahasarakham University, Naresuan University, Burapha University, Srinakharinwirot University, University of Phayao, and Udon Thani Rajabhat University.
Organizers noted that the camp’s impact “far exceeded expectations.” Through expert-led sessions and the students’ remarkable dedication, participants underwent a visible transformation over the two-day program. They evolved from passive learners into confident “Voices of Change,” ready to articulate scientific solutions for global challenges with clarity and passion.
The success of the 2026 camp reinforces SCiMSU’s commitment to cultivating “Global Citizens”—scientists who are not only technically proficient but also socially responsible and globally competitive. By fostering this cross-institutional collaboration, the camp has successfully laid the groundwork for a network of young scientists dedicated to driving society toward a sustainable future.
In a celebratory closing ceremony, SCIMSU officially passed the torch to the Faculty of Science at Naresuan University, who will serve as the host for next year’s camp, ensuring the continued growth of this inspiring national network.
