A Legacy of Excellence: The Story of SCIMSU
The Faculty of Science at Mahasarakham University (MSU) boasts a rich history, built upon a foundation of dedication and innovation. Our roots can be traced back to the Faculty of Science established at the College of Education, Maha Sarakham, in 1968. This College played a pivotal role in nurturing future educators and fostering a love for science in the region.
As Thailand’s educational landscape evolved, the College of Education, Maha Sarakham, became a regional campus of Srinakharinwirot University. During this period, Mahasarakham College of Education transitioned to become part of Srinakharinwirot University. This marked a significant step, expanding the range of academic programs offered and paving the way for a dedicated science faculty.
Finally, in 1994, with the establishment of Mahasarakham University, a new chapter began. The Faculty of Science at Mahasarakham University was officially formed, inheriting a proud tradition of scientific education.

From Humble Beginnings to a Flourishing Faculty:
Today, SCIMSU stands proud as a well-established Faculty, housing a dedicated Secretariat Office and four core departments: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. We offer a diverse range of undergraduate programs in eleven scientific disciplines, catering to a wide variety of student interests. Furthermore, our commitment to advanced studies is reflected in our eight Master’s degree programs and six PhD programs. Additionally, SCIMSU offers two unique double-degree programs, allowing students to earn both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in a streamlined format, fostering deeper knowledge and career advancement opportunities

Pioneering Achievements:
SCIMSU takes immense pride in being home to the first Paleontology curriculum (International Program) in Thailand, as well as the first Natural Medicinal Mushroom Museum in Southeast Asia.
